Now offering acupuncture

Now offering acupuncture

I’d never had problems with my hands and wrists until the shutdown in 2020. I found myself typing at a less-than-ideal workstation, and since my typing skills and about that of a highland gorilla I developed Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.

I had hoped to return to my bodywork practice, but the symptoms endured and I began to have serious vocational concerns.

I explored a variety of modalities but the thing that turned the tide was acupuncture. It was amazing the difference it made. Coupled with bodywork, yoga, and modifying my work practices my hands have never felt better.

I’d been working with Ed Kuntz at One Roof in Saratoga Springs. One Roof closed this spring, and I’m so pleased to announce that Ed is joining us at Bodywork Professionals in Niskayuna and Saratoga.

Acupuncture dovetails so wonderfully with Massage and Bodywork. I’m excited to offer this to you.

He is available 10-6 on Monday in Niskayuna and 10-6 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Saratoga.

Initial visit: $100

Regular Visit $75

The History and Origin of Acupuncture

Ancient Roots

Acupuncture’s origins can be traced back over 2,500 years to ancient China. It was developed as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a holistic approach to health that emphasizes the body’s natural balance.

Philosophical Foundations

The practice is based on the concept of Qi (pronounced “chee”), the vital energy that flows through the body. Acupuncture aims to balance the flow of Qi by stimulating specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points or meridians.

The Progression of Acupuncture

Evolution and Adaptation

Over the centuries, acupuncture has evolved and adapted to various cultures and medical philosophies. It has become an integral part of both Eastern and Western medical practices.

Modern Techniques

Today, acupuncture is performed using thin, sterile needles that are inserted into specific points on the body. Modern practitioners may also use laser acupuncture or electroacupuncture to enhance the treatment’s effectiveness.
